Salon Regina – Retro-chic & brunch
Perfect for: Brunch dates
For some people the Salon Regina is a cool place for brunch and day-dreaming of being in Berlin. For others, cafes like this are a symbol for the gentrification which spreads out in areas like Gostenhof. Nevertheless it is a cool café with stylish mom-and-pop-shop interior and good breakfast. The have sausage and cheese platters, homemade marmalade and spreads, different scrambled egg variations with exotic spices and Schlmalzbrot.
For the afternoon they offer home baked cakes and Currywurst, which is supposed to be one of the best in town. The lovely decoration is like a mix out of flee market, my grannys living-room and 60s Chic. The trendy retro style is definitely popular in the scene and hence the hipsters of the city crowd on the terrace. If you want to get a table on a sunny day or on an evening with live music, you better be early!
A really nice thing is the picnic-basket service. You can get all the delights in a rented basket and take it to the Pegnitzgrund. A great little way to escape, especially for when you get a bit too much of the hipster gathering.
