Crazy Nate’s – West Coast Mexican Street Food

Perfect for: Taco Tuesday with the Posse

A good friend of mine, Franzi, used to live in San Diego at the American West Coast for a while. She is bothering me since ages that she wants to go back to the States because of the great tex-mex food.

„In whole Germany, you won’t find a burrito as good as the ones in San Diego.“

Obviously, that triggered our food blogger pride and we went on the hunt for American style burritos just like those you get at the West Coast of the US.

Thanks god we didn’t need to go that far: In Wöhrd, just above the Wöhrder See in a blue house, you can find a piece of the US West Coast. Owner Crazy Nate created a little paradise for biker, rider, taco fans and all the cool kids. The idea of the American behind this taco place was to create a „Mexican-Soul-Punk-Rock-Hip-Hop-Old- Metal-Biker-Skater-Dirtbag-Bar“. Well, he succeeded. The interior is crazy, colourful and super nice. The walls are painted with funny Aztec patterns and decorated with skateboards, while old snowboards work as benches.

They serve Mexican street food: That means tacos, burritos, nachos and quesadillas, with sour cream, rice, beans and guacamole. Franzi got excited when she saw that they have a San Diego style burrito. Besides that, they also have L.A., San Fran or Long Beach style and many others.

You can image, we set high expectations in those burritos and to be completely honest with you, I was a bit nervous when Franzi finally bit in her long-awaited Burrito. Would it meet her standards? But when I saw the look on her face, I knew: Mission accomplished!

Fresh, regional ingredients, excitingly spiced meat, super soft tacos. Look no further for amazing Mexican street food. Even though the food was really great, my personal highlight are the margaritas. I am crazy about those frozen drinks and never had better margarita outside the States.

Another thing which makes this place so special is the attention to detail, they work with. At the self-order desk, you get a card with a Mexican singer or wrestling star on it, instead of receipt number and there is a bicycle pump for free use.

Recommendation: They do Taco Tuesday, with 1 € for the street style tacos. Why is there no such thing as Margarita Monday?
